Security personnel trained as door supervisors with an SIA licence are essential for any business involved in alcohol sales, spanning from small pubs to large nightclubs, retailers, cafés, restaurants, hotels, and sports facilities.

As of October 2021, door supervisors are required to undergo top-up training when renewing their licence. Hence, the Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top Up) course is tailored for individuals currently holding an SIA licence to work as door supervisors, ensuring they meet the latest qualification requirements.
